Russia continues to oppose U.S. plans for a ballistic missile defense system. We look at Moscow’s view and the position taken by a group known as the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which includes Russia and China.

Dispatch: Moscow Gets Ahead on Missile Defense

And both give Moscow more diplomatic fuel in its competition with the United States over the future of ballistic missile defense in Europe.

China and allies back Russia against U.S. missile shield

Russia won the backing of China and other members of a regional security body in criticizing U.S. plans for a missile shield, saying on Wednesday it could undermine global security.
