The Presidential Administration informs that on Monday, President Traian Basescu signed the decree to submit for parliamentary ratification the agreement between Romania and the US on the anti-missile shield. The Head of State signed decree to submit for parliamentary ratification the agreement between Romania and the US on the deployment of the anti-missile defense system, the one signed in Washington on September 13, 2011.

After 9/11, an event that Americans and their allies will never forget, the United States focused on a war on terrorism. There is, however, a threat that has been largely ignored—the threat of an electromagnetic pulse (EMP), noted by Investor’s Business Daily. In 2004 and 2008, the Commission to Assess the Threat to the United States from Electromagnetic Pulse Attack (also known as the EMP Commission) released its reports on how to protect the United States from an EMP. U.S. President Barack Obama (R) meets with Japanese Prime Minister Taro Aso in the Oval Office at the White House in Washington, DC. The alliance between Japan and the United States is the "cornerstone" of East Asian security, Obama said Tuesday as he welcomed Aso to the White House.
The United States and Japan are expected in a new joint statement to state that cooperatively developed missile interceptors can be exported to third-party nations, Kyodo News reported on Tuesday (see GSN, May 26).
