Northrop Grumman, U.S. Army Complete First Open Architecture Review for Major Army Program Acquisition

The U.S. Army and Northrop Grumman Corporation have successfully completed an architecture review of the Integrated Air and Missile Defense (IAMD) Battle Command System (IBCS). IBCS is the first major Army acquisition to proactively incorporate the evaluation as part of the procurement. The review assesses the impact of software architecture decisions on program requirements and business goals.

avy eyes cooperative shipboard radar systems to counter heavy missile and ballistic missile attacks

U.S. Navy researchers are asking industry for ideas on ways to manage Navy radar systems aboard many different surface warships collaboratively to create new kind of integrated air and missile defense technology that can defend against a broad variety of missile attacks — including mixed raids that involve a combination of high-performance air-breathing missiles and ballistic missiles.

U.S. Navy’s AMDR Program Sets Big Goals

Aviation Week reports:

Northrop Grumman and Raytheon see the U.S. Navy’s Air and Missile Defense Radar (AMDR) program as a way to break the stranglehold Lockheed Martin’s Aegis system has on naval integrated ship and ballistic missile defense (BMD). But Lockheed Martin believes the five-decade-long Aegis pedigree should make the company the front-runner for AMDR.
