Dear Members and Friends,

On behalf of our all of our members, we are honored to announce the March 2010 Defender of the Month, U.S. Army Specialist Adam Delano, who is currently deployed in the Persian Gulf at Al Udeid Air Base, Qatar. SPC Delano is the Tactical Director Assistant for the Patriot Missile Defense systems of 3rd Battalion, 43rd Air Defense Artillery; which consists of 4-5 batteries with 8 Patriot launchers each. These batteries are charged with protecting the instrumental Central Command (CENTCOM) Allied Air Force base that defends the air space over the Middle East. SPC Delano’s job is to coordinate the air defense activities and operations between all of the Patriot batteries in the area.

SPC Delano’s battalion mission is of priority to General David Petraeus, Commander, CENTCOM, because of their close proximity to Iran; approximately 160 miles across the Persian Gulf. Iran possesses thousands of ballistic missiles that can threaten this critical air base, infrastructure and the thousands of U.S. and allied troops stationed there.

Please join us in honoring and recognizing Specialist Adam Delano as MDAA’s Defender of the Month, March 2010

Respectfully,

Riki Ellison
