Missile Defense Agency celebrates opening of Von Braun III building on Redstone Arsenal

HUNTSVILLE, Alabama — Lt. Gen. Patrick O’Reilly said it’s appropriate that the Missile Defense Agency’s new six-story office center on Redstone Arsenal is part of a complex named for Dr. Wernher von Braun, whose team based in Huntsville put the nation’s first satellite and astronaut in orbit and the first men on the moon.

THAAD Initial Operational Test and Evaluation Conducted

The BMDS Operational Test Agency (OTA) conducted, with support of the Missile Defense Agency, an operational test of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) Element of the Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) on Oct. 5, 2011, 1:56 a.m. Eastern Daylight Time at the Pacific Missile Range Facility on Kauai, Hawaii.

MDA Ground Test Demonstrates Phased Adaptive Approach

Data collected during the test, conducted September 12-16, demonstrated BMDS Phase 1 capabilities of the Phased Adaptive Approach to defend European allies and deployed forces from ballistic missile threats by simultaneously executing multiple theater engagements.

Northrop Grumman Gets New Missile Defence Contract
