N. Korea denounces Japan’s move to deploy destroyers near S. Korea

SEOUL (Kyodo) — North Korea’s propaganda website on Monday lashed out at Japan’s move to deploy Aegis destroyers in international waters between South Korea and China, according to South Korea’s Yonhap News Agency.

The “Uriminzokkiri” website associated Japan’s plan with what it claimed was South Korean President Lee Myung Bak’s “toadyism” to the United States and Japan, accusing Lee of seeking to collude with Japan in military affairs.

Japan plans to deploy the destroyers to better cope with North Korea’s missile launches following the latter’s attempt to launch a long-distance missile in the guise of a satellite in April.
