As the new year of 2012 begins and Secretary of Defense Leon Panetta moves forward in downsizing the Department of Defense’s budget for 2013, Iran recently demonstrated its military capabilities, showing a direct threat to the U.S. 5th Fleet deployed in and out of Bahrain. 

U.S. Sells $3.5 Billion Missile Defense System to the UAE

 

The Obama administration will sell a $3.5 billion in missile defense systems to the United Arab Emirates, the Defense Department announced.

Fort Greely to Benefit from 7-Year Boeing Contract

 

The Boeing Co. has been awarded a seven-year, $3.5 billion contract to continue development and operations of the U.S. Missile Defense Agency’s ground-based midcourse defense system, including the interceptor missile field at Fort Greely in Alaska, the Defense Department announced Friday.
