US ABMs in Europe – moving to the point of no return

The United States welcomes cooperation with Russia but will sign no agreements which would limit its missile defense options, Under Secretary of State Ellen Tauscher said. She made it clear that Moscow’s appeal to sign a juridically binding agreement that the anti-missile system in Europe is not targeted against Russia has been left unheard.

Gates, Mullen Defend European Missile Defense

The military’s top leaders defended the U.S. approach to missile defense on Capitol Hill June 15 when questioned about a new report that a key senator says shoots holes in the Obama administration’s European Phased Adaptive Approach (PAA) for defending the continent against ballistic missile attacks.

Force Lifts Suspension on Buys From L-3’s Coleman Aerospace

The Air Force last month lifted a yearlong suspension of purchases from an L-3 Communications Holdings Inc. (LLL) unit after it corrected quality problems on its missile defense programs.

The suspension was imposed because Orlando, Florida-based Coleman Aerospace supplied a faulty target that aborted a $41.2 million missile defense test in December 2009.

Dispatch: Moscow Gets Ahead on Missile Defense

Two events that took place on Wednesday will please the Kremlin very much. Both had to do with the ballistic missile defense plans by the U.S. in central Europe. And both give Moscow more diplomatic fuel in its competition with the United States over the future of ballistic missile defense in Europe.
