Indian Interceptor Missile Test Again In June

March 18, 2010

After the aborted mission, Defense scientists are planning a fresh test of the country’s newly developed Advanced Air Defense (AAD) interceptor missile in June.

This time, a new target missile will be used for the test.

While its planned trial on Sunday was put off after the interceptor missile developed a technical snag in one of its sub-systems in the last minute, Monday’s trial had to be aborted as the target missile `Prithvi’ could not reach the pre-designated altitude leading to its deviation from the coordinated path.

Iran’s Missile Launch Site Points to North Korea

March 18, 2010

More evidence comes out that Iran has no intentions of stopping their development of weapons of mass destruction. North Korea is helping Iran improve its missile program. Iran insists that its missile and nuclear programs are not for military use, while North Korea denies involvement in either Iranian program.

Satellite images of a missile launch site discovered in Semnan, a province in northern Iran, suggest North Korea is aiding Iran’s missile program, according to London defense intelligence group IHS Jane’s.

The defense group’s assessment of recent satellite images revealed that the Semnan site “appears midway towards completion” and demonstrates “the likelihood of collaboration with North Korea in Iran’s missile programme.”

The report continued: “The platforms seen on the new gantry tower resemble those seen on the gantry tower at North Korea’s new launch pad at Tongchang. A drainage pit 170m directly in front of the pad also mirrors one at Pyongyang’s new west-coast launch site.”

Obama went on Fox News Wednesday (a network the White House had vilified, right or wrong, until recently) to state his case mainly for health care. Obama, who had made the goal of pursuing dialogue with Iran a cornerstone of his administration’s foreign policy at the beginning of his presidency, said he had been successful in getting the international community to isolate Tehran.

“As we’ve seen, the Iranian government has been more concerned about preventing their people from exercising their democratic and human rights than trying to solve this problem diplomatically,” Obama said in an interview on Fox News Channel’s Special Report with Bret Baier.
