Amid the reports that the US is pulling out of its missile defense agreements with Poland, National Security Advisor, retired four-star Marine General James Jones has been meeting with and reassuring Polish Foreign Minister Radodlaw Sikorski of America’s commitment to Poland’s defense. They met on the 70th anniversary of the invasion of Poland by Germany and Russia. In their meeting with Gdansk Jones presented Sikorski with a letter written by President Obama.
In the meeting Jones also reiterated the US’s commitment to Poland’s defense and national security and provided the foreign minister with an update on the progress of the Obama Administration’s ballistic missile defense review but reiterated the US has not made a final decision..

Raytheon announced it has received a $27 million dollar contract to support and upgrade Taiwan’s Patriot missile defense systems. Raytheon said it will provide engineers and other technical equipment to the island.
Sanjay Kapoor, vice president of Patriot programs at Raytheon Integrated Defense Systems, “We’re very pleased that the upgrades are happening on an accelerated timeline. This will provide Taiwan with an enhanced level of security sooner than expected” and that “Upgrades ensure that Taiwan’s Patriots are fully capable of detecting, classifying and engaging all known and future hostile threats including aircraft, ballistic and cruise missiles and unmanned aerial vehicles.”
